What are Cancer Registries?

The National Cancer Registration Service (NCRS), Eastern Office registers all malignant tumours and some pre-cancerous lesions occurring in people resident in the East of England at the time of diagnosis. The Eastern Office is also the National Brain Tumour Registry for England. The NCRS Eastern Office is part of Public Health England.

The NCRS Eastern Office (formerly ECRIC) is based at Unit C – Magog Court, Shelford Bottom, Hinton Way, Cambridge CB22 3AD

Cancer registries are unique in being able to provide adequate historical trend and population-based data to monitor changes in cancer incidence or survival over long periods of time.

Identifiable patient data is never released from the registry without appropriate ethical approval and the registry will never contact individual patients or their relatives.
